M2 Optics Unveils Affordable OTDR Launch Box for CATV & Telecom TechniciansFebruary 16, 2010 (Raleigh, NC) - M2 Optics Inc., a leading provider of packaged optical fiber for test and measurement, announced the release today of a new product for short length applications. The OTDR Sidekick is a compact, rugged test box useful to engineers and technicians maintaining fiber optic networks, as well as anyone requiring a short length of fiber (up to 1km) for testing procedures.

The Sidekick will be used primarily as a "launch box" or "pulse suppressor", which eliminates blind spots at the beginning of a fiber cable when testing using an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) instrument. In addition to this application, the Sidekick can also serve as a fiber optic delay line, or useful for training & education.

"To this point, our packaged fiber solutions have all been better suited for medium to long distance testing applications," said Kevin Miller, Director of Marketing for M2 Optics. "With the addition of the Sidekick, we now cover the entire spectrum of fiber needs our customers may have."

Similar to many of their other products, the OTDR Sidekick provides a variety of options for a user to choose from. M2 has also stated that these new products will be offered at a very affordable price, making them an exceptional value to their customers.
