FOS_1000A_OMI_Device
  • Measures OMI per-channel or total
  • Integrated variable optical attenuator
  • Effective as an optical node
  • Measures optical power to -8dBm
  • 1.2Ghz, DOCSIS 3.1 compatible
  • Useful for forward and return band

The FOS 1200A from M2 Optics is an authentic optical test device designed specifically for CATV headend engineers and technicians seeking to optimize laser transmitter performance.

The primary feature of the FOS 1200A is its ability to measure the Optical Modulation Index (OMI) of an optical carrier in percent (%), per channel, or total. This capability results in the instrument being the most efficient and effective tool for optimizing CATV system performance, saving both significant time and money.

Without this device, as much as an hour per transmitter can be wasted performing manual trial-and-error calculations, while requiring several pieces of expensive laboratory-grade equipment.  Using the FOS 1200A, only this instrument is needed and a transmitter can be optimized in just minutes.

Optional Upgrades

  • Optical sensitivity -10dBm for low power lasers (-8dBm standard)
  • Additional calibrated wavelengths at 1490nm & 1610nm (1310/1550nm standard)
  • Integrated, rechargeable battery pack
