A new product for equalizing link latency and system synchronization in Data Centers

Raleigh, NC, February 04, 2021 - M2 Optics, the leading provider of customized solutions for fiber network simulation and optical time delay applications, today announced the Fiber Lab Flex DC as a new product in their popular Fiber Lab portfolio. The new solution offers the most space-efficient and scalable approach for data center engineering teams deploying time delays for latency-driven applications. The Fiber Lab Flex DC is patent-pending.

While M2 has already been addressing this specialized application with existing products in their portfolio, the modular Fiber Lab Flex DC is designed to offer engineers greater versatility when equalizing fiber links/paths and syncing optical signal timing between racks and network devices. For advanced high-speed networks where latency and signal timing play an even more critical role, an example being the financial and high-frequency trading markets, the Fiber Lab Flex DC adds immediate value as both an easy to deploy and fully-customizable solution.

Ideal for environments with high fiber counts, the 3RU rack chassis accommodates up to 12 high-density modules, each holding up to 12 fiber delay spools for a total of 144 time delays. This saves a tremendous amount of rack space while enabling users to add, re-configure, and completely control their setup configuration as their business needs evolve. Furthermore, each time delay can be built with sub-nanosecond accuracy, delivering a superior performance level not seen before in the industry.

“As latency and timing factors have become even more critical in high-speed networks, the Fiber Lab Flex DC sets the new standard for engineering teams tasked with deploying optical time delays in the most efficient manner,” said Kevin Miller, Co-Founder and CEO of M2 Optics. “The ability to accommodate up to 144 high precision optical time delays in just 3RU is unprecedented. We are confident engineering teams will appreciate the modular approach coupled with the ability to accurately fine-tune their systems to meet their goals along with stringent SLAs and industry compliance standards.”
