Continuous monitoring of an optical network to ensure ongoing performance is just as important as the initial deployment itself.  While network monitoring can encompass many different tasks, M2 Optics provides several unique solutions for making network monitoring easier.

Passive Fiber Network Taps

To allow service providers, data centers, government entities, and large enterprises to significantly minimize rack space when monitoring fibers, M2 Optics has developed the SplitLight series of ultra-high density, passive network tap solutions.  Based on a patent-pending design, the SplitLight is capable of monitoring an unprecedented 192 fibers (96 full-duplex) in a single 1RU chassis.

Scalable and designed using the highest quality components, the SplitLight provides maximum value to any organization seeking to monitor fibers in the most efficient manner.

Optical Switching for Signal Routing/Distribution

Once signals from network fibers have been tapped, the next steps is routing those signals to specified monitoring/analysis devices, or to other locations.

The SwitchLight is an all-optical switching platform that enables a user to select an individual signal from a larger group, and route it to the appropriate monitoring/analysis device.  In the same chassis, this unique platform can also be configured to take the selected signal and send it out across selected fibers or groups of fibers for multicast or broadcast applications.

Since the SwitchLight is customized to each user's requirements, it offers a level of flexibility that cannot be achieved by other solutions.  Furthermore, by combining multiple functions into just a single unit, it results in the most cost-effective approach available in the market.

Remote Fiber Monitoring & Testing System

Despite being well-protected in cables, optical fibers deployed in a field network are still susceptible to common issues that can lead to negative performance of data transmissions.  Breaks, bad splices, degrading connections, and malicious intrusion are all issues that must be accounted for, otherwise both the integrity and availability of the network could be reduced.

The FM100 is the most cost-effective solution available for monitoring network fibers to protect against these potential issues.  Running completely unattended on either dark or active fibers, the FM100 uses patented digital technology and an intuitive web GUI to notify network operators in real-time when an issue has occurred for rapid service deployment.
