Using a patent-pending approach that combines all-optical switching capabilities with several other key elements, SwitchLight has the capability of multicasting an optical signal to a group of selected paths. Furthermore, the device allows a user to turn on/off individual paths on-demand, or simply broadcast via all fibers, resulting in greater flexibility when in use.
A valuable feature is the integration of one or more amplifiers into the device by M2 Optics, which virtually eliminates any loss typically experienced when multicasting an optical signal.
